Setting Up A Connection Connection to the Test Server | Connection to the Live Site Open Dreamweaver 8 (If you have an older version of Dreamweaver—MX or MX 2004—please contact the Help Desk or webmaster to get an upgrade). Select NEW SITE ... from the SITE menu. Choose the ADVANCED TAB on the window that opens. If you are working on a website for Montana Tech you must contact the webmaster to obtain permissions to the server(s). Category: Local Info Site name: Choose a name for your site that describes it and that you'll remember. Local root folder: This is the place on your hard drive (C:/) or share drive where you store your website files. Browse to this location using the folder icon to the right of this line. Check the box for Refresh local file list automatically Default images folder: This is a folder titled images WITHIN the folder you are using for your Local root folder. All images used within your website should go in this folder. Links relative to: Select the radio button for DOCUMENT.
Case-sensitive links: Leave this check box blank. Cache: Check the box next to Enable cache.
BEFORE you click OK, Switch to Remote Info by clicking on Remote Info in the left-hand menu. Category: Remote Info Access: Choose WebDAV from the drop-down list.
Login: mtechs\yourusername (you MUST put the MTECHS\ in before your username or you will NOT be able to connect) Your username is the same one you use to log into the computers on the Montana Tech network. Password: This is the password you use to log into the computer on campus. (You may save this if you like. If you do not, you will be asked to enter your password every time you connect to the test server). Select the check boxes next to:
Check out name: This is your first initial followed by your last name (JDoe). Email address: Enter your tech email address here (JDoe@mtech.edu).
