Archiving Discussions and Chats
Discussion Board
Open your course and enter the control panel. Click Discussion Boards.
Click on the discussion for which you wish to make an archive. (Boards in which students are finished communicating.) 
Check the box next to the discussion(s) you want to archive.

Click the Show Options button if it is not showing already.
Click on the Collect button. This will collect all the threads of the particular discussion and place them in one printable document.
Virtual Classroom Chats
Open your course and the Control Panel. Click Collaboration in the Course Tools.
Click Create Collaboration Session and decide whether you would like Lightweight Chat or Virtual Classroom.
Click the Join button to enter the new classroom.
After entering the classroom, click the Record button at the top of the window and name the archive.
(You need to download Java before entering the Virtual Classrooms.)

An Archive button will now be next to the Join button.

Click on the correct archive. (It should be underlined.)

Students will not be able to enter the archive until you click Manage to the right of the archive and make it visible to students.
