Moodle - Main Screen

Below you will find descriptions of everthing you can do as a Moodle Student. Each section is described to you.

If you prefer learning about certain areas of Moodle Student only, please refer to the Moodle Student Page and select your interest
under step-by-step instructions .

• Middle Section:
  • The middle section of your Moodle course houses everything broken down by topic. Each week/topic has everything listed for you.

 

• Left Side: Student blocks - here you can view everything lumped together
  • People/Paricipants - those in your class
  • Course Menu block - Assignments, Forums, Glossaries, Quizzes, Resources
    • shows the student all the activities available in a course
  • Administration - Grades, Profile
  • My Courses - List of the courses you are enrolled in



• Right Side:
  • Upcoming Events - List of Assignments and upcoming events
  • Class List - list of those in your class
  • Online Users - List of other students that are online
  • Calendar
  • Latest News - List was new

Left side:

• People - Participants

• Some courses will show a block that lists all the students in the course and may show the teacher(s).
• Select Participants under the People block

 

• Assignments

• You can view your Assignments in several different ways. In the middle section, Assignments are listed in outline form. On the left hand side, you can view Assignments under Upcoming Events or you can view your Assignments under the Activities block.
• Select Assignments under the Course Menu block





• You can select a particular Assignment to view the contents, due date and submitting options
  • Week 1 Assignment Part A (naming convention is up to your teacher)



 

 

• Forums
  • Forums are designed so you can interact with the other participants in the course
  • Select Forums from the Course Menu block and participate



• Forums - Select the Forum that you want.



• Once you are inside of the forum, you can change the layout and view by selecting the drop down box.



• Quizzes

• You can view your quizes by selecting Quizzes under the Activities block
• Once you've selected Quizzes, you will see all of the Quizzes listed, select the one that you want to take or view
  • Some Quizzes are timed, if that is the case, a timer will visible throughtout the quiz
  • Some Quizzes you may take more than once, that is up to your teacher





• You must select Continue the last attempt to take a Quiz



• Once you've answered a question, select Submit



• Timed Quiz





 

• Profile

• Your profile contains information about you that other users can see by clicking on your name. Profile information includes the description of yourself (If you entered one) your name, location, email address and the list of courses you are enrolled in. You can edit your profile by clicking your name and using the edit tab or click on edit profile in the course administration block.
• Select Profile under the Administration block



• Once you have chosen Profile, you are brought to a screen where basic information about yourself is listed. Where you are from, the courses you are taking. All of this optional.
• To make changes, select Edit profile



• In Edit profile, you can make changes to what others see. You can even include a small description about yourself. I put 'Welcome to my Profile!'
