PTC students at Montana Tech have the opportunity to be involved in many communication-related extracurricular organizations.

Many students in the PTC Department participate on the staff of The Technocrat (Montana Tech's student-run newspaper) and KMSM 107.1 FM student-run college radio. Students can also engage the community and gain practical experience as a technical communicator through PTC Productions and the student PTC Club, and through the local branch of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). PTC students are also frequently involved in interdepartmental activities and organizations on the Tech campus.

KMSM student-run radio is one of many opportunities for PTC students to get hands-on experience in the field.
