What is the GPA to get in?
The minimum GPA to apply to the Nursing Program is 3.0. The lowest GPA accepted into the program varies from year to year and is typically dependent upon the number of applicants.
What is the application deadline?
Applications will be available February 1, 2008. Applications are due no later than 4:00 p.m. April 18, 2008. Students accepted at this time will be notigied by June and will start classes Fall 2008.
What are the pre-requisites required to get into the program?
Applicants are required to have the following pre-requisites for consideration in the Nursing Department:
- BIOL 2016 Anatomy & Physiology I
- BIOL 2026 Antomy & Physiology II
- BIOL 2586 Basic Nutrition
- COMM 1046 English Composition
- MATH 1056 College Algebra
- CHEM 1016 Introduction to General Chemistry
- CHEM 1106 Health Chemistry Lab
- PSYC 1000 General Psychology
- NURS 1016 Introduction to Nursing (will not be used in GPA calculation)
What does it cost to get a nursing degree?
Completion of a degree in nursing is costly. In addition to tuition and fees, nursing students should be aware that required nursing textbooks/reference materials are expensive and that many courses require several texts. The students shouls also plan for a number of out-of-pocket expenses related to clinical supplies and course /program requirements. Students enrolled in the clinical component of the ASN program are charged a program fee of $371.00 per semester. Please see teh Business Department for specific costs.
How long does it take?
3 Years for a 72 credit ASN-RN, 12 credits a semester.
How do I know if my credits transfer?
You will need to contact the Transfer Credit Evaluator in the Registrar's office to have a Transfer Credit Evaluation completed. The name of the person you need to contact is Teresa at 406-496-4404. It is the student's responsibilty to obtain written documentation from the Montana Tech Registrar regarding approval of transfer and/or course substitutions. You must have PRIOR written approval from the Registrar that a course taken at another campus is equivalent to a MT Tech course.
How do I apply?
Applications are available in the Nursing Department. You can either call and have one mailed directly to you or pick one up in the department. Once the application is filled out it must be returned to the department and checked and signed by an advisor. Please contact the department for available hours. 496-3722. Applications will be available February 1, 2008.
What immunizations are required to apply?
- Hepatitis B Vaccination (series of three injections). All three three injections must be completed prior to application.
- Current proof of freedom from tuberculosis (TB Skin test or chest x-ray)
What CPR course is required?
Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR for the Professional Rescuer is required. No online CPR courses or recertifications will be accepted.
What is the approximate cost of text books?
Cost of text books varies from semester to semester.

Can you attend the program part-time?
Pre-reqs can be attended as a part-time student, but once accepted into the clinical component the student is expected to be full time.
