Welcome to the Department
of Geological Engineering
Our graduates work all over the world searching for mineral resources and evaluating rocks, soils, and environmental impacts for construction, resource development, and industrial projects. The program stresses field-based course work and solution of real world problems. The department is home to a state-of-the-art triaxial testing lab, an underground mine facility, a compter lab equiped with geo-technical engineering and groundwater modeling software, and offers a 6-week summer field camp.

The department offers both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees
Accreditation
The bachelor of science in Geological Engineering is one of the “founding” engineering programs of Montana Tech and one of only 15 in the United States accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

The Geological Engineering program consistently boasts a 100% placement rate with high starting salaries.
