Biography

Dr. Suzan Gazioğlu is a tenured full professor in the Program of Statistics. Dr. Gazioğlu joined Montana Tech in 2004 as an Assistant Professor of Statistics. Her background is in Mathematics and Statistics. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Yűzűncű Yıl University in Turkey, and her first Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the same university. She received her second Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics from The University of Toledo-Ohio. Finally, in 2002, she received her Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Glasgow-U.K. As well as teaching, she has worked on both collaborative and individual research projects, and has published her research findings in professional journals. She regularly attends and presents at professional meetings. The topics of her presentations cover statistical applications as well as statistical education.

Research Interests

Dr. Gazioğlu’s research interests are mostly in applied statistics. To date she has largely focused on the application of sensitivity and uncertainty analyses to compartmental models. In the future, she plans to continue to apply these analyses and other advanced statistical procedures to environmental models and other real-world applications. Her most recent interests include investigations of secondary analysis of case-control studies, undergraduate statistics and mathematics education, and online teaching.

Dr. Gazioğlu has also been involved in the Montana Tech Undergraduate Research program and mentored several students on their research projects.
