May 2015, Congratulations to Dr. Waleed Al-Rawashdeh on receiving the "2015 Distinguished Researcher Award."

May 2014, Dr. Laurie Battle, Dr. Hilary Risser, and Ms. Becky Johnson from the department of mathematical sciences have been awarded a continuation grant from the Mathematics Association of America Tensor foundation. The grant will provide funding for a math and music summer camp for middle school age girls. The two week "Create Math" program will engage middle school girls in exciting and creative applications of mathematics from June 16th through June 26th. Young women in grades six through eight are eligible to participate. They will be invited back to Butte to a follow-up experience during the Montana Folk Festival.

May 2014, Dr. Laurie Battle was awarded a grant from the Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program to spend the 2014-2015 academic year at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) in Taichung, Taiwan. She will do collaborative research with a faculty member in Life Sciences at NCHU, using mathematical modeling to investigate the effect of dam removal on the endangered Formosan salmon. She will also teach two graduate courses on mathematical modeling for biologists.

May 2013, Susan Walker retires after 20 years of service at MT Tech. Susan will continue to teach one-third time each fall for the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

April 2013, Congratulations to Dr. Hilary Risser winning the Rose and Anna Busch Faculty Achievement Award for 2012-2013 year.

April 2013, Montana Tech mathematical sciences faculty members, Dr. Hilary Risser and Dr. Laurie Battle, have been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Mathematical Association of America to run a math institute called "Create Math" for high school girls at Tech June 17-21. April 2008, Ginger Toivonen awarded Professor Emeritus for her outstanding contribution to Montana Tech over her 30 year career.

April 2007, Twelve math majors participated in the 11th Annual Montana Tech Undergraduate Research Spring Fair; Russell Akers, Brittany Deffinbaugh, Christopher Dienes, Haley Doleshal, Jennifer Esp, Gregg Feddes, James Andrew Holmes, Scott LaForest, and Christopher Linhar.

March 2007, Congratulations to Mathematics major Christopher Dienes on receiving a prestigious National Scholarship. Chris was one of 317 students nation-wide to receive the the Barry M Goldwater Scholarship.

January 2007, Eight math majors, Haley Doleshal, Brittany Deffinbaugh, Chris Linhart, Scott LaForest, Gregg Fedders, Chris Dienes, Kristen Anderson, and Erin Esp, and faculty Rick Rossi and Susan Walker, attended the Joint American Mathematics Society and Mathematics Association of America Annual Meetings in New Orleans. Rick Rossi and Erin Esp presented a poster titled "Fitting Misture Models to Madison River Obsidian Glass Flake Rind Thicknesses" at the meetings.
