Mining and Geology Building (MG)
Construction of the Mining and Geology Building began in 1972 when the state legislature appropriated $1.5 million to the school. The MG was finished in 1975, complete with an air study tunnel, nine laboratories, three lecture halls, and various administrative offices.
The MG now houses the Mining Engineering and Geological Engineering departments.
The building also houses the Registrar, Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, Information Services, Montana Tech administrative offices, and the Computer Center/Black Board Support. These offices were all deliberately placed near each other for the convenience of the students. The building still features the original 125-seat multimedia lecture hall, two smaller lecture halls and nine laboratories.
